The flaws of the current educational system
Many have found themselves on the chopping block. Real change happens on a smaller scale though — in individual districts, schools and TAG programs. Now, whether my geometrically-challenged self at the time did in fact correctly match all of the pegs to their respective homes will forever be unknown.
The smaller the class, the better the individual student experience.
We can no longer allow our children to suffer through poorly-funded educational measures or selectively pick which students learn without the proper resources. It is certainly flawed, and there are certainly fallacies. The demands of careers and an over-dependence on schools put higher-class kids at risk too when it comes to the lack of parental involvement in academics.
Why is americas education system failing
Schools support the idea of limiting education, which is a basic right, to certain people who "deserve" it based on grades. Perhaps there is no real connection between these two statistics, or the eerily similar ones associated with young Latino men. That symbolic token that I clutch may reveal nothing much more than my name, but magnitudes greater will be ingrained in that parchment than simply the ink on paper. What if scoffing at a connection between a strong education and a life lived on the straight and narrow is an easy way to bypass the real issues in K learning? Even the Founding Fathers celebrated education as an ideal — something to which every citizen ought to be entitled. Hence, the world needs an education system that excites and stimulates children, providing them with the learning they need - and deserve - to fulfill their potential. Why give kids the encouragement and opportunity during middle and high school to read, write, and explore their interests for fun when they could be prepping for the ACT, or dredging through mountains of busy work, or cramming for fact-based assessments? Not teaching what students do not understand We have all received that failing grade on a test or a quiz. Younger grades have had fewer and fewer students enrolled in the program, and the district is struggling to continue funding it. The smaller the class, the better the individual student experience.
What I am saying, therefore, is not that our present K system is entirely failing at the ultimate goal, of, well… educating.
